Are you passionate about dance and love working with children? Ensemble Performing Arts is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team at Evolve Dance Company in Rockford, IL to support recreational dance classes in a positive, welcoming studio environment. Our program is dedicated to helping students build confidence, coordination, creativity, and life skills through dance in a fun and encouraging atmosphere.

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside lead instructors to help create engaging, safe, and organized classes for students of all ages and beginner levels. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring young dancers and being part of a vibrant dance community.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers during recreational dance classes.
• Help students stay focused, engaged, and confident throughout class.
• Demonstrate basic dance movements and help with technique corrections when needed.
• Support classroom management and maintain a fun, safe environment.
• Assist with stretching, warm-ups, and across-the-floor activities.
• Help prepare students for performances, showcases, and recitals.
• Communicate positively with students, families, and staff.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to support each class.
• Provide reliable transportation and pass a routine background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children in dance, sports, education, or childcare settings.
• Basic dance training or studio experience.
• Energetic, patient, and encouraging personality.
• Dependable, professional, punctual, and friendly.
• Passion for helping beginner and recreational students grow and enjoy dance.

Evolve Dance Company started as a dream of Artistic Director, Jenny Vause, and became a reality in June of 2005. Since opening, Evolve continues to provide quality instruction to dancers in Rockford and the surrounding areas. ( (
